Bust building firms gloom

MORE than 2,600 constructi­on companies became insolvent in the last financial year.

The number rose by 8% compared to the previous year – and more are facing pressure following the collapse of Carillion.

Lee Causer, of accountant­s Moore Stephens, warned: “Carillion has left a huge number of subcontrac­tors out of pocket.”
