INJURIES BROWN OFF THE BHOYS

SCOTTISH ROUND-UP

-

CELTIC captain Scott Brown reckons injuries were to blame for their shock 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock.

Youssouf Mulumbu got the winner for Killie but Dedryck Boyata (groin) and Kristoffer Ajer (ankle) both limped off for the Bhoys.

And Brown (above) said: “We were probably on top at that time before you get your two centre-halves injured.

“It’s always hard when you get players injured during games, especially with the height and pace of them at the back. It kind of changed the momentum for us.

“The pitch never helps. They’re probably a little bit more used to it than what we are but it’s what you have to deal with.

“We have a huge squad so we’ll just need to deal with the injuries. That’s just part and parcel of football.”

Celtic were not the only side in a surprise defeat as bitter rivals Rangers lost 2-1 at home to Hibernian.

Jamie MacLaren scored Hibs’ winner from the spot after Sean Goss looked to have rescued the Gers a point following John McGinn’s early opener.

Rangers presented former player Paul Gascoigne to the Ibrox crowd at half-time.

And Gazza said: “The reception was fantastic.”
