KANE: I’M NO DIVER

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

HARRY KANE has shrugged off Virgil van Dijk’s “cheat” claim by insisting: “I’m not going to jump out of the way – it’s football.”

The Spurs striker was at the centre of a storm in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool when he

was accused of diving to win a penalty as keeper Loris Karius tried to block.

Kane’s poor penalty was saved, but Reds defender Van Dijk blasted him for “clearly diving”.

Asked if he was touched by the keeper, Kane replied: “Yeah. He has dived, he has got in the way and I’m a player, I’m not going to jump out of the way because it’s football. I’ve definitely felt contact and I’ve gone down.”

Spurs had another penalty when a linesman ruled Van Dijk had fouled Erik Lamela and this time Kane made no mistake.

Kane added: “Lamela’s one I thought the linesman showed amazing character to give that because a lot happened for the first one about the linesman, so to give that penalty was massive – and it was a penalty.”

Van Dijk said after the match: “I think it is a dive. You see him diving clearly and no one is talking about that.

“But I think it is a dive.”
