Costume fan in gun scare

A SCI-FI geek sparked an armed police swoop after leaving a convention still wearing his costume.

Officers had reports of a man in a balaclava carrying a machine gun in Exeter, Devon, on Sunday.

They stood down when they saw a Roman Centurion and two Klingons approach the suspect – and realised DevCon had included a cosplay contest.

Insp Howard Brugge said: “We sent an officer over to give him a few words of advice.”
