2,000 artefacts stolen
RAIDERS have taken up to 2,000 irreplaceable artefacts from an archaeological trust.
The haul included Saxon axes and ancient beads and coins.
The thieves also ransacked education rooms and storage areas at the Canterbury Archaeological Trust in Kent last week. The trust’s Andrew Richardson said: “Individually, the items probably don’t have huge monetary value. They do have very considerable historical value.
“I felt physically sick when I first saw the chaos in our stores.”
Kent Police said no suspects have been identified yet.
