8 fractures of baby ‘swung by his ankles’
A BABY suffered eight fractures and is at high risk of being disabled after he was allegedly swung by his ankles, a court heard.
The tiny boy developed septicaemia after it was claimed he was injured on at least two occasions.
Jody Simpson, 24, and Tony Smith, 46, allegedly delayed taking him to a doctor for nine hours, saying they were waiting for a plumber.
Maidstone crown court, Kent, heard they would have known for days the boy was seriously ill.
The prosecutor said: “The ongoing effects of his injuries will be considerable and lifelong. There is a high risk of disability.”
The pair, of Whitstable, deny allowing or causing serious harm, and cruelty.
