EUROVISION: YOU DECIDE
BBC2, 7.30pm Love did shine a light back in 1997, but there’s been nothing but mediocrity for the UK’s Eurovision entries ever since.
And yet, each year we return with renewed optimism – can we ever win that glorious title again?
Superfan Mel Giedroyc and 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlow present this year’s UK song selection, live from the Brighton Dome, the venue where Abba won with Waterloo in 1974.
But who exactly are the six artists who carry our hopes and dreams this year?
There’s Asanda Jezile, 16, who made the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2013; girl group Goldstone; West End musical performer Liam Tamne; RAYA, a singer, dancer and DJ who has performed with Little Mix; SuRie, a singer songwriter who has twice been a backing singer at Eurovision; and The Voice auditionee Jaz Ellington.
A public vote means you decide who will be performing in Lisbon for the Grand Final in May.
