Sargeant son wins election

THE son of tragic Carl Sargeant has won his late dad’s Welsh Assembly seat.

Jack Sargeant, 23, boosted Labour’s majority by more than a thousand votes in Alyn and Deeside.

His father, 49, apparently took his own life in November – just days after being fired amid sexual harassment allegations.

Jack said: “We are still devastated by dad’s death.

“This is a by-election we shouldn’t be fighting.”
