Dying to talk

THE fact that some of our top doctors support assisted dying should inject fresh urgency into this contentious discussion.

-

Nobody should dismiss the concerns of those who fear families would bump off loved ones to get hold of money and property.

Yet it surely must be every person’s right to die with dignity, choosing to leave this world on our own terms if terminally ill, rather than spending our final days, or years, in agony.

Medics’ opinions aren’t the only ones but they are important. Condemning people to live against their will is cruel. Let’s debate the issue properly, so we can implement strong safeguards while allowing people a dignified death.
