DAVIES READY TO PRUNE RED ROSE BID... AGAIN

- BY ALEX BYWATER

GARETH DAVIES admits his winning try against England at the last World Cup has defined his career to date.

And the Wales scrum-half (left) will look back to 2015 for inspiration this week as he bids to cause the Red Rose further heartbreak at Twickenham on Saturday. Davies helped send England out of their own tournament with a crucial try as Wales secured a dramatic 28-25 win over their bitter rivals.

The two sides meet again in the Six Nations with Davies hoping history can repeat itself.

“We’ve had a few famous wins against England, especially the one in the World Cup.

“That’s what springs to my mind when someone mentions Twickenham,” said the Scarlets live-wire. “It’s one of the favourite moments of my career and the atmosphere was amazing.

“It was a full house with 80,000 in a packed stadium and there were a lot of Welsh fans. That helped us towards the end as we ground out a famous win and it’s a big part of my homework to look back on previous games against England.

“I’ll look back at that World Cup game and other games in the Six Nations to see if I can pick up any traits.”
