ISLAM SLIMANI has been given the green light to make his Newcastle debut.

The deadline-day loan-signing from Leicester was ruled out of the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace with a minor thigh problem.

But, after intensive work with Toon’s medical staff, he is back to full training with his new team-mates.

Slimani, 29, is now set to pull on a Newcastle shirt for the first time when Manchester United visit St James’ Park on Sunday.

The Algeria international has scored five goals this season, but just once in the Premier League, in the 3-0 win over Huddersfield.

Boss Rafa Benitez said: “It will be a big boost to have Islam available now.”
