Theresa May’s slingback to the past with Nikki
Prime Minister Theresa May has told Pride of Britain winner Nikki Lilly about her earliest fashion faux pas – a pair of yellow, platform slingbacks.
In a chat with the 13-year-old, who has the rare, debilitating medical condition AVM, the PM praised Nikki’s baking (she won Junior Bake Off last year) and revealed she has 100 cookbooks and a penchant for Weetabix. Mrs May said of the shoes: “I think I bought them and thought, ‘Why did I buy these?’.”
Nikki, from North London, is making 20 short films for CBBC, interviewing stars including David Walliams and Claudia Winkleman about their childhoods.
The PM’s chat goes live today. She said of being a teenager: “You are constantly learning. You can just enjoy life.”
