‘Ship caused poison cloud’

A TOXIC gas cloud which put 150 people in hospital was most likely caused by a ship, a report says.

But it added that the composition of the haze on the Sussex coast in August last year “remains unclear”.

People complained of burning eyes, nausea and difficulty breathing.

The Department for the Environment said it may have been an accidental release or from cleaning.

But containers lost overboard and wrecks could also be to blame.
