Grandad’s world record 20 double-decker jump

- BY VICKY SMITH vicky.smith@mirror.co.uk

A GRANDAD will try to beat the world record he set at 26 by jumping over 20 doubledecker buses on a motorbike.

Ex-stuntman Chris Bromham leapt 196ft over 18 buses in 1983.

The dad of three, 61, now has to clear some 217ft on a hybrid Kawasaki 500. He said: “The one

...after he managed a mere 18 buses in 1983

thing that’s always inspired me is a challenge. The challenge now is, can a 61-year-old man compete with his 26-year-old former self ?”

Chris retired in 1997 FEAT Chris Bromham at 26 after a 21-year career inspired by legendary stuntman Evel Knievel. Despite his comeback, at Retro Festival in Newbury, Berks, in August, for Children with Cancer UK, he is glad his children have no interest in stunt careers. Chris, of Swansea, added: “I hope my two little grandsons don’t get the bug.”
