OAP crushed under his car

A DRIVER died after he fell out of his moving car and was crushed beneath it.

James Pickup, 78, tumbled out of the door while backing up his drive and lay trapped by his right leg for about an hour.

An inquest heard the former lorry driver, from Darwen, Lancs, was shifting his car at 1am for fear it would be snowed in.

The Preston hearing was told he died in hospital from “severe leg injuries” and heart problems.

Verdict: Traffic collision.
