# We may be celebratin­g the 100th anniversar­y of women getting the vote, but equality between the sexes will never happen if attitudes towards women don’t change.

I’ve just watched an advert encouragin­g a young man to get life insurance cover as he has a wife, child and one on the way.

The message is, ‘What would happen if he died? How would she cope?’

So, we now have it confirmed that Bill Roache, aka Ken Barlow, really has lost the plot. He claims his, and indeed everyone’s bodies, are “designed to go on for ever” and that he’s actually getting younger (Mirror, Feb 7).

I know some readers don’t agree with Carole Flint who said we shouldn’t live in the past (#Madeuthink, Feb 5), but I do happen to agree with her.
