MALAN: WE MUST SMARTEN UP
Deadly treble-maker Keinhorst puts Hull KR to the sword
DAWID MALAN reckons England must get smarter after losing seven wickets for 43 runs to slump to defeat in their opening Trans-Tasman tri-series match against Australia.
The left-hander, who top-scored with 50, believes that, while England’s approach was right on a small Hobart ground, they should have reacted to the changing conditions better. Faced with a target of 156, Australia triumphed, with five wickets left.
“I don’t think we adapted quickly enough,” said Malan (right). “We just have to play the conditions a little bit better because it was difficult for every guy who came in during the middle overs, even the Aussies.
“Glenn Maxwell showed if you get in, you can play a match-winning innings.”
