TOBY PLAYS SMART CARD

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

TOBY ALDERWEIRELD admits Tottenham’s players will need to be “very clever” to stop PierreEmerick Aubameyang.

Alderweireld reckons Spurs stars will have to use their heads and not just their legs to try to halt the speedy Gunners striker.

Aubameyang got off to a dream start with a debut goal against Everton following his £60million January move from Borussia Dortmund.

And he will be a huge threat to Spurs hopes when he makes his north London derby debut at Wembley tomorrow lunchtime.

Defender Alderweireld said: “Everybody knows he is very quick and a good finisher. He has it all and is in a good moment, so it is going to be very difficult to beat them. You know one against one on the same line he will beat you so you have to be very clever, read the situation and then try to beat him with your head.”

Alderweireld is fit again after three months out with a hamstring injury and put himself in contention for the Arsenal clash by playing the full 90 minutes on his comeback in Spurs’ 2-0 FA Cup win over Newport.

He said: “The Arsenal game was not the goal, it was just to be back as quickly as possible but, of course, those kind of games are the ones you want to be involved in. Now it’s up to the manager who he needs.

“I feel very good. We had to take our time and work very hard to get the muscles to be ready.”
