ARSENE WENGER is “positive” that Jack Wilshere will sign a new deal to stay at Arsenal. Gunners midfielder Wilshere, 26, (below) is understood to be close to agreement after being offered £90,000 a week, which is a pay-cut on his basic wage, but includes big incentives.

There is less certainty around Aaron Ramsey, who hit a hat-trick against Everton last week, with 18 months left on his £100,000-a-week deal.

Arsenal boss Wenger said: “I’m positive because I want Wilshere to stay. I’ll do the maximum I can to make him happy.

“I want Aaron to stay as well – if he keeps scoring more hat-tricks!”
