Tense wait for life-or-death Alfie decision
THE parents of braindamaged toddler Alfie Evans face an agonising wait to see if his life support will be turned off.
A judge will rule on the 20-month-old’s future later this month.
Doctors say he is in a “deep coma” and has no chance of survival.
But mum Kate James, 20, and dad Tom Evans, 21, want to take Alfie abroad to try to save his life.
A judge heard seven days of evidence from the family and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool.
Michael Mylonas, QC for Alder Hey, said yesterday: “We think prolonging his treatment is futile and not in his best interests.”
Alfie’s dad Tom said: “We see that our child has a life.” A decision is expected in around 10 days’ time.
