In 1999 the MacPherson report, into the Met Police’s handling of the murder, was a GUILTY Norris and Dobson defining moment in British race relations. It found the probe was “marred by a combination of professional incompetence, institutional racism and a failure of leadership by senior officers”.
Norris and Dobson were found guilty of the murder in 2012 and jailed for life. The judge said it was “committed for no other reason than racial hatred”.
