NEED ADVICE ON HOW I CAN KEEP HEALTHY

-

Dear Coleen

Recently, a few of my friends have been diagnosed with cancer and it’s made me think more seriously about my own health.

There’s nothing actually wrong with me, so I don’t want to bother my doctor with my concerns, but I want to try to learn a bit more about what I can do to keep healthy.

Who else can I talk to so I can get some good advice?

Coleen says

It’s pretty normal to start thinking about your own health and mortality when a good friend has been diagnosed with cancer.

You can still talk to your doctor or practice nurse about how to go about making healthy changes. Try starting small with changes you can stick to in the long run.

Pharmacies offer some great services these days – including things like measuring your body mass index (BMI). They can also access your lifestyle to advise you on working out what changes you can make to help you become healthier.

As well as this pharmacies offer servicesto help you give up smoking.

There’s also so much you can learn yourself by researching online – you’ll find lots of tips and advice on the Cancer Research UK website (cruk.org/health).
