Eve is so adamant on name

- FROM JAMES TONEY in PyeongChang

EVE MUIRHEAD has asked the British public to give her a nickname as she prepares to upgrade her Olympic curling bronze.

Muirhead is a woman of many talents. She plays golf off scratch, has represented Scotland in four bagpipe World Championships and arrives in Korea as the reigning European champion.

Canada’s men’s skip Kevin Koe is nicknamed The Ninja and Muirhead (above) wants a piece of the action.

“I’d be pleased for the public to decide a nickname for me,” she said.

“I haven’t got one that I know of. I’m not sure whether my teammates secretly have a nickname for me.

“I can see how other curling teams have nicknames and I could see how it would make the sport a little bit different and funny.

“The sport is changing and it’s one of the youngest fields ever in PyeongChang.

“A lot of the older faces are retiring and the young ones are coming through. I’m one of the most experienced players here, which is quite scary when you are only 27.”

It is a family affair for Britain’s curling teams in South Korea. Men’s skip Kyle Smith is joined by brother Cammy while Muirhead is sharing the Olympic village with her brothers Glen and Thomas.
