Hughes’ Red Rose recall

NATHAN HUGHES was last night recalled by England in place of injured No.8 Sam Simmonds.

Hughes (above, left) proved his fitness with a 25-minute cameo for Wasps against Harlequins on Sunday.

His return could not be better timed as Simmonds (above, right) damaged a shoulder during the win over Wales and is unlikely to be fit to face Scotland on Saturday week.

Fellow forwards Joe Marler, James Haskell and Charlie Ewels join Hughes in returning to the squad for two days of live scrummaging with Georgia.

Haskell has served his ban for a dangerous tackle but Marler’s suspension, for the same offence, does not end until next Tuesday.

Eddie Jones has also called up uncapped teenagers Gabriel Ibitoye and Sam Moore.
