YOU may have herd the one about a goat in a pub, but for pygmy Eric it’s no joke – he loves it in his local.

Owner Jack Barrett, 40, even makes sure his pet is dressed for it, with a Manchester Utd top among accessories.

And although Eric, one, is not allowed alcohol, he can enjoy his favourite crisps.

Jack, a scaffolder, said: “Eric is great. He’ll lie down next to me or have a little wander. He likes being around people.

“He only ever has water. I wouldn’t give my child beer so why would I give it to my goat? He absolutely loves Quavers.”

Eric, named after Man Utd legend Eric Cantona, joins dad-of-two Jack once a week at the Angel Inn in Burnley, Lancs.

When they are not playing on the fruit machines, the pair go off on day trips – though timekeeping can be a challenge.

Jack said: “Whenever we are out, we’re stopped for pictures. We set off in good time to make sure we get there.”
