14% drop in local nurses

THE number of community health nurses has fallen by almost 6,000 since the Tories came to power.

NHS figures show numbers in England fell from 41,160 in 2010 to 35,432 in 2017, a 14% drop.

Janet Davies, of the Royal College of Nursing, blamed “crude costcuttin­g” for the reduction.

The Government said there was an “urgent” need to boost numbers.
