Extras Ashley: I had no idea hubby could take own life
ACTRESS Ashley Jensen has told how her husband gave her no clues that he was going to kill himself.
The Extras star was left distraught after finding actor Terence Beesley, 60, dead in his car.
Ashley told his inquest in a statement: “I am truly devastated about Terry’s death and I will never, ever forget what happened that night.
“I had no idea he was capable of doing what he did.” Terence was found unresponsive in the garage of the home he shared with Ashley, 48, and their eight-year-old son Francis in Camerton, Somerset, last November.
She tried in vain to rouse him before dialling 999. A postmortem revealed that carbon monoxide levels in his blood were at 73% – 50% is enough to cause death. Avon coroner’s court in Bristol heard Terence was in good health before his death, did not drink alcohol, never smoked and had no past mental health issues. Assistant coroner Dr Peter Harrowing ruled the star killed himself. He said: “Mr Beesley knew his wife and young child were not at home and he would not be disturbed. I am satisfied there was only one intention on his part, the act of ending his own life.” Ashley and Terence met while both were involved in a play in 1999. They married in 2007. He appeared in a string of TV shows including Victoria, EastEnders, The Bill, Where the Heart Is and Casualty.
