NEWCASTLE will pay up to £5.2million for instant-hit keeper Martin Dubravka. The Czech star (below) is on loan and made a brilliant debut in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on Tyneside. Dubravka, 29, has been landed for a fee rising to £1.2m once he has played six of the remaining 11 games. Newcastle can trigger a permanent deal by forking out another £4m in the summer, which seems likely if they survive. Dubravka, recruited from Sparta Prague, said: “Two hours before the game against Manchester I didn’t know I was playing. I was happy I could stay calm and enjoy the game. We’ll try our best to go higher.”
