ALBION AXINGS WORRY FOR AL

CAHILL’S SORROW AS MASON RETIRES A YEAR AFTER THEIR CLASH LEFT HIM WITH A BROKEN SKULL

GARY CAHILL admitted he was “devastated” after Ryan Mason was forced to retire a year after their clash of heads.

ALAN PARDEW is fighting for his job at West Brom after chairman John Williams and chief executive Martin Goodman were sacked in a brutal boardroom cull.

Just 15 games since he replaced Tony Pulis as boss, Pardew is under pressure with the Baggies seven points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League. And the axing of Williams and Goodman suggests Albion have begun to prepare for the threat of football in the Championship next season.

The pair have been given notice of termination of their deals and placed on gardening leave, with ex-chief executive Mark Jenkins returning to the club. Williams said: “It’s a results-based game and I accept my part in that.” LEEDS UNITED are eyeing up a summer swoop for Spanish forward Alex Gallar. Gallar, 25, (left) has starred for La Liga 2 leaders Huesca this season, with five goals and five assists, after joining them last summer.
