FIRM GOING AFTER GOLD

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

LIVERPOOL hitman Roberto Firmino is vying with Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane of Spurs, for this season’s Champions League golden boot.

Ronaldo has nine goals, Kane scored his seventh of the campaign last night against Juventus and Firmino (above) has six.

The Brazilian and team-mate Mo Salah are the second highest-scoring partnership in Europe, with 11 goals, behind Neymar and Edinson Cavani at PSG, on 12.

“I am trying to give my maximum for the team and trying to be alongside the great players in Europe, such as Ronaldo, Neymar and Lionel Messi,” said Firmino.

“When Philippe Coutinho left, that put a greater responsibility on everyone to perform without him and we’ve done that.”
