Party vows to end badger cull & improve animal welfare laws
LABOUR today unveils plans to boost animal welfare, including an end to the badger cull.
They vow to make the UK “a world leader on animal rights”.
LABOUR will today vow to improve animal welfare by ending the badger cull and illegal hunting.
In a mini-manifesto, the party calls for bans on foie gras imports and exports of live animals for slaughter.
Other proposals include stopping third party puppy sales and tackling puppy smuggling with rabies testing before entry to the UK.
Shadow Environment Secretary Sue Hayman said: “With new trade deals on the horizon and the UK no longer subject to EU-wide rules on animal welfare, we want a comprehensive legislative agenda in place so the UK becomes a world leader on animal rights.”
