Christian JP ‘fired in gay adoption row’
A CHRISTIAN magistrate claims he was sacked for opposing gay adoption, a tribunal has heard.
Richard Page, 71, said in a BBC interview that he believes a child would be better looked after by a man and a woman.
A year after it was screened he was removed from the magistracy for serious misconduct.
The comments came after Mr Page turned down an application by a samesex couple to adopt a child in Kent in July 2014.
A complaint was made by his colleagues and he was reprimanded by the Lord Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor in December that year.
He is now suing them for religious discrimination at Croydon Employment Tribunal in South London.
