Boris tries to heal Brexit rift but warns of vote ‘betrayal’
BORIS Johnson today issues an olive branch to Remainers, but warns that reversing Brexit would be a “betrayal”.
The Foreign Secretary, a leading Leave campaigner, insists quitting the EU offers “grounds for hope”.
He will say in London: “I fear some people are becoming ever more determined to stop Brexit.
“I believe that would be a disastrous mistake that would lead to ineradicable feelings of betrayal.” He adds: “I want to try today to anatomise at least some fears and show... that Brexit is not grounds for fear but hope.” But Green Party’s Caroline Lucas hit back: “He lied to further his political goals. It may be Valentine’s Day but the British people have fallen out of love with Boris.” TUC’s Frances O’Grady said “Boris Brexit” would be “Brexile” for jobs and workers’ rights.
