Oxfam hit by new scandal as chief held
OXFAM has been plunged deeper into crisis after a top official was arrested in a corruption probe.
Chairman of Oxfam International Juan Alberto Fuentes Knight was held in Guatemala over a deal done when he was finance minister in the country.
Oxfam Great Britain is embroiled in a scandal over aid workers using prostitutes in Haiti, which President Jovenel Moise said was a “serious violation of human dignity”.
The scandal has fuelled calls for ministers to slash the overseas aid budget.
International Development Secretary Penny Mordaunt will today threaten to withdraw funding from charities which fail to “safeguard” everyone they work with.
