Beeb to ditch plastic after Planet shock
THE BBC is to ban singleuse plastics after Blue Planet II highlighted the pollution problem.
Beeb staff and visitors use two million plastic cups a year, plus cutlery.
They will be phased out by the end of 2018 and replaced by glasses that can be washed and reused.
The Corporation plans to be free of all single-use plastics by 2020.
Sir David Attenborough’s series last year was a wake-up call to many who saw the damage plastic is causing in our oceans.
Tony Hall, BBC director general, said: “We all need to do our bit to tackle this problem and I want the BBC to lead the way.
