Cash can’t buy class
THE Oxford University Conservative Association has long been a bastion of privilege and entitlement.
Its members have become Prime Ministers, captains of industry and Cabinet ministers. It also shows how you can have all the money in the world and the most expensive education available, and still have no respect for others.
The Association now faces serious allegations that it turned a blind eye to debauchery and sexism. Most young people enjoy a drink or two – but this is not harmless partying.
These students are accused of sexual harassment, loutish behaviour and misogyny. It is also alleged they tried to cover up the incidents to protect the Association’s reputation.
What is worrying is that these Conservatives go on to hold senior positions in government and other influential areas of society, taking their narrow and warped views with them.
The Tories are happy to demonise the working class for their behaviour, but they fail to apply the same rules to themselves.
