OVERSEAS DEALS WILL BOOST PREM

- BY JOHN CROSS

PREMIER LEAGUE clubs still expect a big rise in television revenue – even if the latest domestic deal sees an overall drop.

The overseas rights have undergone an incredible jump in value with lucrative deals already signed with China, the US, South Africa and Brazil. China’s has gone up 10 times in value, rising from $70million to $700m for their latest three-year deal, while NBC signed a $1billion deal to sign up for six years. Brazil and South Africa have also seen big rises, with around 75 more contracts being negotiated.

Premier League chiefs (executive chairman Richard Scudamore, above) are confident those deals will outweigh any domestic rights cash shortfall.
