Mirror up for 11 honours at Press version of the Oscars
MIRROR writers have been nominated for the most prestigious awards in British journalism for bringing you the very best in news and comment.
They have been shortlisted for 11 Society of Editors Press Awards – the newspaper industry’s Oscars – to be presented in London next month.
Judges were impressed by our fine writing and hard-hitting exclusives, which they said had “produced the best journalism for readers”.
And we delivered stories from showbusiness and the corridors of power in Westminster, to the front line of fighting for Mosul in Iraq to the terrible famine crisis in Somalia.
Lloyd Embley, group editor-in-chief, said: “Every day I am proud of what our journalists achieve. To be nominated for so many awards is fantastic news and very well-deserved.” Feature Writer of the Year: Tom Parry, Brian Reade; Columnist: Alison Phillips, Brian Reade; Travel Journalist: Nada Farhoud; Specialist Journalist: Chris Hughes; Political Journalist: Nigel Nelson; Health Journalist: Andrew Gregory; Front Page: Change the Law for Max;
