Brit in court for fighting IS
A FORMER British soldier who joined Kurdish militia to fight Islamic State has appeared in court charged with terrorism.
James Matthews, 43, is said to have done three tours with the YPG in Syria. He is accused of attending a place used for terrorist training.
Karen Jones told Westminster magistrates: “The legal argument is going to be over the definition of terrorism.”
Matthews, living in London, was bailed to appear at the Old Bailey.
