The food and drink industry is one of our largest sectors, employing 400,000 in manufactur­ing and another two million in retail. We’ve found 14,268 jobs.

At fish4jobs.co.uk there are 1,118 food and drink manufactur­ing jobs which include a warehouse operative in Daventry, Northants (£8 to £9 per hour), a food production operative in Dorchester, Dorset (£8.20), and a quality assurance technician in Pontefract, West Yorks (£9 to £10.97). There are also 810 food retail jobs, such as food marketing assistant in Exeter (from £19,000) and a national accounts manager for gourmet food products in Cirenceste­r, Gloucs (£40,000).

Jobcentre Plus (gov.uk/jobsearch) has 7,443 relevant jobs, including hundreds of production line workers, packers, warehouse staff and engineers needed across the country. Another 4,232 drivers are required to get food and drink products to stores nationwide.

These range from a scientific officer – food compositio­n and diet for the NHS in London (£25,886 to £31,193) to a food machine operator in Ossett, West Yorks (£7.71 to £9.25). We found 665 apprentice­ships at getingofar.gov.uk including an apprentice food production operative in Consett, Co Durham, and an apprentice food technologi­st in Thetford, Norfolk. The national rate for apprentice­s under 19 is £3.50 per hour.
