Cousin raped and killed two

- BY PAUL BYRNE

“The second – John Broome – is deceased and is not believed to be linked to Bennell.” Broome is thought to have been a coach in the 1960s and 1970s.

The club said it would “exhaustively examine a number of reports of historic anomalous behaviours, no matter the level of gravity and strength”.

City asked for anyone who can help their probe to come forward.

Meanwhile, civil claims for damages have been launched by victims against Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra.

Bennell coached boys teams in the 1980s which provided youth recruits for City and was on Crewe’s coaching staff.

Three former junior footballers are suing City while one is planning to sue Crewe and the FA for damages, it was claimed during the court case.

Crewe issued a statement insisting the club knew nothing of Bennell’s abuse. BARRY Bennell is related to a notorious sex killer – his cousin Ronald Bennell raped and murdered two women.

Ronnie was just 18 when he raped and killed Lynda Stewart, 22, in Burnage, Manchester, in November, 1970.

He was found guilty and given a life sentence in 1971, but released after 12 years. He became a painter and decorator, and five years later, he married after lying to his new bride about his past.

But in June, 1989, he raped and murdered mum-of-three Pamela Noone, 42, in Bramhall, Greater Manchester.

He was caught, but just weeks before his trial, he was found hanged in his prison cell alongside two suicide notes.
