SOS for Oxfam
NOBODY wants to see Oxfam collapse.
This is a charity which has done an extraordinary amount of good work over the years. But it is now facing a battle for its survival. Archbishop Desmond Tutu yesterday became the latest high-profile person to end their association with the charity.
Major corporate backers are reviewing their donations, while long-standing supporters are closing their purses.
Only Oxfam can save itself. If it means senior staff considering their positions, so be it.
This is not about their reputations, but the reputation of a charity and the thousands of people it rescues from poverty and hunger.
