Loc’s key is football

- BY CHRIS HATHERALL

BRIGHTON’S £14million record signing Jurgen Locadia says football saved him from a life of crime.

Locadia, who was injured when he signed from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window, is finally fit to make his debut against Coventry in the FA Cup tomorrow.

And the Dutchman’s hunger for success comes from a tough upbringing in Emmen, Holland.

He said: “We had a difficult time because my parents separated when I was two. I stayed a lot with my grandma and had to look after three little sisters, with no father.

“Football is not about the money for me.

“I just love it and, without football, I think I would have ended up a criminal.”
