RETURNING HERO TIM NEEDS TIME

- BY DARREN WITCOOP

NEIL HARRIS is pleading for patience with Millwall star Tim Cahill as he bids to get back up to speed.

Cahill is still not ready to start and will again be among the substitutes at Birmingham today.

The Aussie forward, 38, who rejoined Millwall for a second spell last month, made his return as a late sub in the draw with Cardiff last time out. Cahill (left) tore up his contract with Melbourne City in December and is now desperate for games to press his claims ahead of the World Cup.

But Lions boss Harris said: “Tim needs more minutes on the training pitch and in behind-closed-doors games to get him ready.

“If he gets up to speed in the next few weeks and is ready to start a game, fantastic. If he is not, he has got a massive part to play from the bench for now.” Steve Cotterill has urged his Blues to take out their derby frustration on Millwall. They were comfortably beaten by bitter rivals Aston Villa last Sunday – and now Cotterill has demanded a response.

He said: “More than anything the boys were a bit disappointed with how they played – they didn’t quite get to grips with the game.

“Hopefully we can put that one behind us and have a really good performance.”
