Cruising to happiness cancer free

JOY Jean & John Bayliss JEAN Bayliss, diagnosed with advanced non-Hodgkin lymphoma and told she might not make her 60th birthday, has celebrated her 70th.

And she’s marking her 50th wedding anniversary on a Norway cruise with husband John, taking in the Northern Lights and a husky sled ride.

Jean, from Southampton, diagnosed in 2006, said: “I had a 40 per cent chance of survival.”

After surgery she joined a trial supported by Cancer Research UK. “R-CHOP 14 vs. 21” used four chemo drugs and one called rituximab.

“Within five months I was in remission and five years later I was told I was clear of cancer,” Jean said.
