A shark fell out of the sky on to my garden
Son stunned by fish find mystery
A SHARK has plummeted into a shocked resident’s garden as he was making tea.
James Hill was in the kitchen when his dad Colin, 59, discovered the small-spotted catshark.
The pair believe a struggling bird may have dropped the dead fish.
James, 26, said: “My dad came in looking a bit perplexed. He said, ‘What is the shark commonly found in the UK, the shark that’s 2ft long and has a slopey nose?
“‘Because there’s one in the back garden’.” The engineer added: “It’s the silliest thing to explain, ‘Oh yeah, I was making a cup of tea and a shark fell from the sky into my garden. “I think it had been picked up by an ambitious cormorant.”
Small-spotted catsharks, also known as dogfish, are found around the UK. They can grow to 3ft and feed on crustaceans, molluscs and fish.
Part-time coastguard James, from Whitstable, Kent, added of last Thursday’s find: “This beast is a good 2ft. It was in quite good condition but it had been dead for a few days.”
