Drugs ‘can fix stroke brains’

STROKE patients were given fresh hope of recovering speech and movement after scientists found how to “re-wire” the brain.

Drugs could be used to restore adult brains’ ability to recover as children’s do.

Healthy men with no musical training as kids were given valproic acid, and within two weeks they could learn perfect pitch.

Prof Takao Hensch, who authored the study at Georgetown University, Washington, said: “We could reopen this window.”
