CHRISTIE’S BATTLE TO SKATE ON
ELISE CHRISTIE’S Olympics is hanging in the balance, according to Team GB officials.
The short track speed skater (above) crashed out of the 1500m semifinal on Saturday.
But she posted a picture from the Olympic Village as she worked out on an exercise bike, and said: “Working hard to turn this around… 48 hours to get it sorted.”
However Team GB chef de mission Mike Hay is cautioning against the 27-year-old being fit for tomorrow’s 1000m heats.
Hay said: “It’s how the ankle responds.
“She wants to make it but it might not be her decision – you’ve got to be able to get the boot on your foot. We’ll have to wait and see what the doctors say.
“If she’s able to skate she will, I don’t think it’s a problem for her mentally.”
