Madrid are Real fighters

-

EUROPE ROUND-UP REAL MADRID produced a stirring second-half fightback to win 5-3 at REAL BETIS.

Zinedine Zidane’s visitors took the lead early on through Marco Asensio, but were stunned when Aissa Mandi and an own goal from Nacho put the home side ahead at the break.

Madrid were fired up after half time and scored though Sergio Ramos, Asensio and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sergio Leon reduced the deficit to one goal for Betis, before Karim Benzema put the game out of their reach in injury time. The win leaves Madrid still 17 points behind leaders Barcelona.

JUVENTUS striker Gonzalo Higuain is a doubt for the Champions League clash against Tottenham, at Wembley on March 7, after limping out of yesterday’s Turin derby.

The Argentina forward fell to the floor in pain after just three minutes following a collison with TORINO keeper Salvatore Sirigu.

He was eventually substituted, and his replacement Federico Bernardeschi set up Alex Sandro for the only goal.

Their victory briefly sent Juventus top of Serie A until NAPOLI recorded their own 1-0 win over SPAL, to reclaim the lead. Brazil striker Allan scored.

In Spain, Diego Costa scored his fourth goal since rejoining ATLETICO MADRID, as they beat ATHLETIC BILBAO 2-0, to move within seven points of Barcelona. In Holland, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s second-half goal gave AJAX a 1-0 win at ZWOLLE, to cut PSV EINDHOVEN’s lead to five points. PSV were held at home by HEERENVEEN on Saturday evening.
