Race is on to lose 50 MPs

MPs should vote on constituency boundary changes before Parliament winds up in July, a Commons committee warns today.

The cull of 50 MPs is due to be voted on in autumn and if it fails there would be no time to run a fresh boundary review before the 2022 election.

The Commons Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee urged the Government to “move quickly” as the “window for a decision is short”.
